The shape prevents the wheel from contacting with the board while still providing ample foot space. The longboard is unique as the deck is lower to the ground then where the trucks are mounted. This makes the board more stable at greater speeds making it a good longboard for speed-boarding. This drop down can get you on the main street of America, the route 66.
